Johnson & Johnson 3Q11

3Q Revenues: $16.0 billion (+7%)

3Q Earnings: $3.2 billion (-6%)

YTD Revenues: $48.8 billion (+6%)

YTD Earnings: $9.5 billion (-17%)

Comments: Worldwide Pharmaceutical sales were $6.0 billion in the quarter (+9%), but domestic sales were down 6%, impacted by generic competition for Levaquin. International sales increased 28%, which reflected an operational increase of 19% and a positive currency impact of 9%. Sales growth was attributed to recently launched products, Zytiga (for metastatic, castration-resistant prostate cancer), Stelara (for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis), Simponi (for moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis) and Invega Sustenna (once-monthly, long-acting, injectable treatment for schizophrenia). International revenues were also boosted by the new split of Remicade sales. Prezista and Velcade also contributed to sales growth.
